The Rogers family proceeded to clear the desert land for planting of the medjool date palms installing a drip irrigation system for watering, also fertilizing the date palms with chicken manure.

The original planting consisted of 300 medjool date shutes and the Rogers family farm today has over 4000 palms planted on over 100 acres. Each year the family plants additional acreage with their young off shutes.

Martha’s Gardens began their harvesting of medjool dates in 1999. The Rogers family prides themselves in producing the finest medjool dates from the Yuma area as Martha says “we raise our dates as we raise our children, with love”.
